The 3rd Space Project creates space for young people to be heard on key socio-emotional issues, provides publishing opportunities for emerging youth writers and artists, and uses creative expression to challenge the social conditions that threaten children’s rights.

About Us
Third Space Project (3rd Space Project) is an international, youth-led collective of writers and artists. We empower global youth to use creative writing, prose, and visual art to protect children's rights and amplify youth voices on the global stage.
The Third Space theory is a cultural and sociolinguistic framework introduced by scholar Homi K. Bhabha that describes the "in-between" space where different cultures, identities, and ideas meet and negotiate to create something entirely new. The Third Space Project embodies this idea and aims to create a space where youth from all over the world can accessibly publish their work and speak up.
Our foundation is built upon Article 12 of the UN Convention on the Rights of the Child (General Assembly Resolution 44/25), which mandates that children have the fundamental right to express their views freely in all matters affecting them.

A digital creative space where young people can share spoken-word poetry and artwork about the social causes they care about. Submit your multimedia work from the comfort of your home.

A learning and creation space built around workshops that help young people develop their writing, artistic, and advocacy skills.

A global publishing community that brings together the collected writing and artwork of young people from around the world. Through collaborative book volumes, any youth can become a co-author while supporting transparently documented children’s rights initiatives. The project can also connect young creators with wider youth-writing communities and publishing opportunities.
About the Spaces
the dense moss, rich with moisture, is a perfect growing medium for iceland’s many species of mushrooms. experienced mushroom hunters know to visit their favorite spots a few days after it rains to find the biggest variety.
2nd Space: Work
iceland’s geothermic pools and black sand beaches create stunning compositions from the air. both are created by the island’s constant volcanic activity.
natural beauty in its rawest form
iceland’s surface is carved by water, originating from either its massive glaciers or abundant rainfall.
the sun’s angle at this latitude produces deep and contrasty colors, drawing out the blacks in the volcanic soil and saturating the greens from the grasses and moss.
